Research & Development

KTSA is committed to developing a culture in which research is used to inform practice and where teachers, school leaders and support staff carry out research and share their learning with others.

In this way we can learn from the research of others and ensure that what we do has an impact on improving outcomes for children and young people. By participating in, and leading research, teachers and school leaders develop a commitment to enquiry and sustain their commitment to learning and developing their practice.

We are developing a variety of ways in which colleagues can work together to improve provision and outcomes within and between schools. Staff are leading action research projects and sharing findings, exploring existing knowledge, stimulating professional discussion and brokering small groups of researchers working together on shared issues.

ITT trainees contribute to school improvement through the research projects they undertake as part of their training. KTSA provides opportunities for trainees to engage with colleagues across the alliance to carry out this research and to present and share their outcomes.
